How many pets may be included in the session? May my family join in the session?

Does my pet need to be well trained for the session?
Nope! Believe me, I’ve worked with them all! I do love it when a pet does know basic commands, but it is absolutely not a requirement. With my training knowledge and a little strategic treat placement, we can usually get the shots we’re looking for.
What if my pet doesn’t cooperate?
The most important thing to remember is not to stress over it! It’s not uncommon for a pet to be super excited about their close-up or nervous about a camera being pointed at them. We will take our time and work with your pet to get them as comfortable as possible. I may also ask you to assist me to calmly get your pet in position or to interact with your pet for some fun photos. Remember that as a dog trainer, I have worked with all kinds of personalities; and we can usually wrangle some great shots out of each session. So just relax, have fun, and let me handle it!
My pet is very nervous around people. Will that be a problem?
As a pet photographer and dog trainer, I understand animal behavior and I know what to do and what not to do. I know how to interact with pets to keep them as comfortable as possible so we can get the shots. Your pet may not be quite as comfortable as they are alone with you, but we’ll do the best we can. We’ll keep the session fun and relaxing, and I’ll take plenty of time to get to know your pet. We can even set up a time to meet before your session so your pet can get to know me a little.
My dog is very sick/elderly, how quickly can you fit us in?
I will do my best to schedule your session for your elderly or terminally ill pet as soon as possible, often within a few days. I know how tough this time can be, and you want to make sure to capture those special memories while you can. We will work your session around your pet to make sure they’re comfortable, and we’ll be sure to capture your lovable pet’s personality and the special bond you share.
What should I wear to the session? What should my dog wear?
Refer to my tips on what to wear to your session (here). Make sure your pet is wearing a collar that you like, and one that is clean. You can coordinate the leash and collar as well. Remove any unwanted, distracting tags from their collar. Also, feel free to accessorize your pet with a cute bow tie, bandana, or bow. Your pet can have a little style, too!
What should I do to prepare before the session?
Think about what type of photos you have in mind. Do you prefer full body shots or close-ups of those adorable expressions? I generally take lots of different shots, but let me know your expectations at the beginning of the session. Also, think about any wall space in your home that you may be thinking of displaying some art from your session. What type of shots would look good in that space?
What should I bring to the session?
If there is anything special you would like included in your pictures (such as your dog’s favorite toy, a sentimental item, or a family heirloom), make sure to bring that along. Items that are special and unique to your family and pet will make your images much more meaningful.
I will have a variety of natural, yummy treats to guide your pet into certain poses and get their attention. If your pet has special dietary needs or a specific palette, be sure to bring along their favorite treat. Just make sure to keep those treats hidden until I ask for them so your pet doesn’t go bonkers at the beginning of the session.
What kind of leash and collar should my pet wear?
A collar, such as a flat nylon or leather collar, will look best in a photo. If your pet arrives in any other type of gear, I will have a few options that we can safely use on your pet for their photos if you choose. I will also have long lines available if needed. As always, safety is our number one priority.
Will leashes and collars be shown in the pictures?
If it is allowed and safe to do so, leashes and collars may be removed. However, if the leash and collar must remain on for safety reasons or to get your pet into position, the leash will be removed in post processing (unless it would naturally be in the photo anyway).
How do I choose a location?
I will help guide you through figuring out the perfect location and offer a few suggestions. Think about the places you and your pet love, feel the most comfortable, and have the most fun. This could be your favorite park, wooded trail, urban area, or even in your own backyard and home. If your pet is very nervous, easily distracted, or would just prefer a familiar spot; your home may be the perfect spot (as long as you have a nice outdoor area or a naturally, well lit home).
How long do the sessions last?
Each session is different and it depends on everyone’s personality and mood. We will spend plenty of time getting the shots you want, and we won’t wrap up until you’re satisfied with the variety we captured. Generally, most of the single pet sessions last about an hour and the family sessions last about 1 ½ hours.
When do sessions take place?
Sessions usually take place late in the afternoon or early evening (depending on the time of year) just before sunset. This is when the natural daylight is the most flattering. If your session is taking place in a public place, such as your favorite park, I recommend holding your session during the week. Parks can get pretty crowded on a nice weekend, and we can roam easier with less distraction if there are fewer crowds around.
What happens if it rains?
The weather can be very unpredictable, and I don’t want to stand out in the rain any more than you do! If rain is predicted for your scheduled session time, I would be more than happy to reschedule your session for another day (at no additional cost).

Can I just get digital files?
While digital files offer a great way to back up your images and share the fun from your session online, they often get forgotten, lost, or new technology makes that USB obsolete. Images printed at consumer-level labs may also be of poorer quality and fade in a short time. There is good news, though! Web-friendly digitals are included with each print ordered, and gift print digital bonuses are included with qualifying orders. That way, you get the best of both worlds!
My goal is to turn your images into custom works of art that you can see and experience everyday. The artwork you choose is of the highest quality and professionally printed, ensuring you will enjoy it for a lifetime. I will work closely with you to design artwork that’s perfect for you and your home. You don’t have to worry about a thing, as I will design, order, and even hand deliver your artwork so that it gets to you safely.
Digitals are available for purchase if you would prefer to print your own images or just want to ensure that you have them.
Please note: I cannot guarantee the quality/finish of any product that you choose to print yourself. You are responsible for the backup and storage of your digitals after purchase. If the digital file(s) are lost, they will need to be purchased again.
How much should I budget for my experience?
You can choose to purchase only the images and products you love. Products are available a la carte or you can create your own collection. Each client and session is unique, so it does vary. However, most clients do choose to invest between $750 and $2,000 on custom artwork from their session.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes! Payment plans are available for orders of $600 and over. Payments may be split into 6 non-refundable monthly payments for your convenience. Your products will be ordered and available for delivery upon receiving your final payment.
What if I have to cancel my session?
Reservation fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. However, if you should need to cancel your session for any reason, 100% of your reservation fee may be applied towards a session within the next 12 months.
How do I book a session?
Contact Diana when you’re ready to book your session and we’ll get started personalizing your session. A reservation fee will be required to schedule your session. Sessions usually book 1-2 months in advance, and limited bookings are available each month to ensure a more personalized experience and timely delivery of your products.
